The panel was set up in accordance with Article 89 of the Constitution of Ukraine, and Article 82 of the Standing Orders of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The Temporary Inquiry Panel is to investigate the situation concerning operation of the gas-transport system of Ukraine and supply of customers with the natural gas in 2008-2009, exert parliamentary control over the process of negotiations in order to restore supply of Ukrainian customers with gas and transit of gas to Europe.
Pursuant to the Resolution, the panel will work during two months, and a preliminary report should be presented on 6 February 2009.
A relevant Draft Resolution was registered at The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by Reg. No.3589.
